Weather

In Alto Valle, climate is continental, mild and desert. The average annual temperature is 15° C, with a frost-free period of 190 days. Rainfall is low (annual average of 197.7 mm) and summers are dry with warm days and cool nights with a temperature range of 18°C.

Land

These soils border the margins of the Negro and Neuquén rivers that belong to the low terraces (areas). Its width varies as it is occasionally interrupted by secondary streams. The infiltration rate is rapid and it has a low water retention capacity. On the primitive Patagonian rock formation is a layer of pebble and, on the latter, a thin layer of material of lower grain size such as sand, silt and clay, to a lesser extent.
